#Opinion

“So, it’s all about love” she said more as statement than as a question. It was October 9 and we were on a small bus in Cairo, heading to the organization where we going to work with. As one does during leadership journey’s, we were talking about what drives us, why we do what we do, and how easy it is to lose touch with that in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the world on fire. This conversation with one of our incredible fellow travelers, in that dusty city during those intense days, has stayed with me to this day. Because it sums up why I do what I do.

Which brings me to this newsletter. What’s new? I have joined as a partner! After five years of incredibly enjoyable work with Better Future, I will be working with Annemarie and our wonderful team to shape our next chapter. It’s a big yes to her, and to Better Future. I’m grateful, excited about what is to come, and full of love for the work we do.

Yours,
Daria

How to be a Better Human

How to be a Better Human isn’t an average self-improvement podcast but looks in unexpected places for new ways to improve and show up for one another.

Your invitation to help build a sustainable future

“If we want to avoid a climate disaster, we need much more radical leadership,” says Jim Snabe, who knows a thing or two about leadership as chairman of the world’s largest maritime shipping company. In a stirring talk, he encourages companies to take big, bold actions to tackle climate change — and invites anyone to join the TED Future Forum, a new initiative focused on the role of business in advancing solutions to the climate crisis.

Against empathy – the case for rational compassion

Another puzzle piece in understanding human behavior at large. We think of empathy – the ability to feel the suffering of others – as the ultimate source of all good behavior. This book challenges us to think again and look to the rationality of compassion as more capable of overcoming group think, dehumanization and sense the shared humanity in all people. Worth the read!
