#When was the last time you truly took a stand?

Tahmina is the Director of Voice of All Women, a foundation driven by a deeply personal misson: to give her mother  —  and many other women from marginalized communities  —  a voice. She brings forward large and sensitive topics such as sexuality, discrimination, colonisation, and traditional gender roles. Issues that have real impact on the lives of these women.

She does this in universities and public forums, always seeking dialogue with majority groups. As she did in this programme. With people who, in their daily work, are asked to make courageous choices time and again.

Taking a stand requires courage.

And that courage is under pressure. In organisations. In society. Online. And, if I’m honest, sometimes in myself.

I notice I ask myself more often: Should I really post this? Not because I don’t stand behind what I say, but because the space to speak freely feels smaller than it did a few years ago. Sharper. More polarised. Quicker to judge. And not without risk; especially in a world where crossing borders can mean having your social media history screened up to five years back.

It has made me reflect, once again, on courage. Not as something heroic, but as a daily practice. As a choice I have to make, every day again.

Here’s to a courageous new year.

Blog ‘Where real change happens’ interview with Cecile from Amref the Netherlands

Courage to challenge your comfort zone is key to creating genuine impact. In this interview, Cecile from Amref The Netherlands reflects on her experience working with Better Future and Univé in Malawi — a journey that took her out of familiar territory, not by geography but by collaboration. It’s in authentic human connections and shared purpose that real transformation happens.

In this episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast, Mel sits down with Bryan Stevenson, the world-renowned civil rights lawyer and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Drawing on his work arguing—and winning—cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, Bryan shares powerful insights on why compassion is an act of courage, how to practice it daily, and what it means to live a life that truly reflects your values.
